Austen also has difficulty trusting people she does not know, which is how her relationship with Mr. There is nothing wrong with being independent, but there are some points in life when one is going to need assistance from someone else, and there are times in the novel where I wish Ms. Austen, especially when she was too stubborn or stuck too much to being an independent woman. I really liked both characters but there were sometimes when I wanted to jump into the novel and knock some sense into Ms. Their relationship is one filled with pride and prejudice.

Lefroy only wants to go back to his home-until he becomes fascinated with Ms. Austen is trying to solve a murder and Mr. Lefroy (especially when both had completely different views). I blew right through this novel and was absolutely enthralled with the interactions between Ms. I love a good mystery, so there was no way I was not going to read Secrets in the Snow.

I was captivated by Jane Austen’s story and loved how she showed that a girl does not need a man to be strong, but that love can find you in the most unnerving situations (in this case, unraveling a murder). The characters can be easily differentiated and will easily capture any reader’s attention. MacColl does a beautiful job of capturing the time and the style of writing like Jane Austen’s but also does a great job of incorporating her own writing and language. This is a great read for anyone who needs an introduction into Jane’s world and into her type of writing. So when I saw a novel about Jane Austen, I knew I had to read the book. Jane Austen’s work, especially Pride and Prejudice, have always been dear to my heart. I received a copy from Chronicle Books and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
